Vision Statement

The library of ACU is the indispensable hub of discovery, learning, and Creativity at Adichunchanagiri University.

• Achieving excellence by supporting the college and university Mission by supplementing suitable learning resources, facilities and services to the patrons, both physically and virtually.

• The BGSCE Library of ACU provides an inclusive learning environment that fosters collaboration among people of diverse backgrounds in support of the learning of the community.

This Library functions as an integral part of the university. The objectives of the University Library are

• To acquire both physical and virtual collections and enhance the capability of services to meet the demands of the curricular, instructional, and research programs of the community.
• To create a vibrant learning environment by providing free and easy access to relevant knowledge resources to all our users.
• To adopt the collection analyses system in the libraries while acquiring the content for the programs, considering the factors of growth of the collection, particularly in newer areas of inquiry
• To ensure easy access to collections through the use o emerging integrated technology so that all collections can be readily accessible
• To establish a strong linkage with Government agencies such as INFLIBNET, National Digital Library, E-content Platforms, and Open learning Portals in the country and abroad.
• To support for Conservation of Knowledge created by the ACU and Its Constituent colleges for present and future uses of the Learning community
• To promote information literacy as an activity of the Library in enhancing the skills of the stakeholders.

Our library services include –

The Students/users is eligible to borrow up to 4 Books i.e. 2 from the book bank (Students, who belong to OBC and General Categories, can borrow two books and four for SC, ST, and C-I) against identity card for a period of 7 days. Faculty members can borrow up to 6 books. The books are kept in the reference section and the periodicals normally will not be issued. However, under certain conditions, the reference textbooks are issued to the faculty and Research Scholars for overnight reference and return. Those who fail to return/renew the books within a specified due date will be levied an overdue charge of Rs. one per book per day.

The greatest advantage that a Library can offer to its readers is its open access or open shelf system. This system enables the users to have direct and easy access to the book collection providing good opportunities and freedom to examine and browse the books. It encourages the users to develop a closer acquaintance with the diversity of information sources available in the Library. Keeping this in mind, the Library is practicing Open Access System.

Newly acquired (New arrivals) Books, journals, magazines, and Latest Issues will be displayed as and when received.

The books of our library will be sent to various institute libraries of ACU campus on Inter-Library Loan as per the request from our institute Libraries. The library also used to get some books Inter Library Loan basis from other institute libraries as a request by our users. The DELNET's (https://delnet.in/ ) (http://164.100.247.26/ ) database on the Internet is used for the location of the university library where the book in demand is available.

The Library provides reprographic service to the users on a priced basis within the Library premises. This saves the time of the users to a great extent.

It is one of the most widely used databases of the library and is accessible 24×7 via the library web page. Besides listing all the documents available in the library, it allows online renewal and reservation, circulation, fine collection, and indicates the status of a particular book. The OPAC is searchable & allows users to search by any combination of author, title, subject/keywords, accession number, subject, and several other fields of methods. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility has been provided for the benefit of the users to access databases of books, theses, dissertations, and serials of our university collection. Proper training is also provided to the students, about the use of the OPAC system (http://103.42.87.12:8004/ ) at the beginning of the academic year.

DSpace is an open-source repository software package typically used for creating open access repositories for scholarly and/or published digital content (http://103.42.87.14:8080/jspui/ )..

Nowadays Library Automations is considered as a powerful tool for any type of library to make its services very easy and relatively reliable to access the resources. The Library Automation of different kinds with powerful features is available in the market; which can also be used in an academic library in order to promote library activities and services for the benefit of academic fraternity and research output BGSCE Library is successfully automated by using the Koha software.

Questions banks for each course of the B.Ed program are available in the library (Both soft and hard copy). It contains objective-type questions including multiple choices, Short answers, and easy-type questions as per university examination question paper pattern. Library also preserves Question papers of previous years' semester examinations/test papers to benefits the users’ copies and will be provided to users to take photocopies on request and also available on ACU JNANAKHANAJA (http://103.42.87.14:8080/jspui/ ).

The College library of ACU facilitates/provides plagiarism check services to Research scholars, Faculty members, and Students using the “DrillBit plagiarism detection software” (https://www.drillbitplagiarism.com/ ) & “URKUND” plagiarism checker software to get the percentage of similar contents already published in various online information sources.

The Institution has set up Tech Focus Digital Library with 43 computers having adequate internet connectivity for navigating. The objective of this facility is to support self-learning activities. The Library has adopted open access system for stockholders to browse freely the books, e-books/e-journals through a Wi-Fi facility across the library and campus.
